This is an women's only 20 km race around the lake in Canberra. It started off very small but this year there were approximately 500 contenders. My first "short course" race and loved it. The roads were still open but club officials marshalled traffic on fairly good flat roads.
I didn't stop to look at the scenery, everyone around me was going flat out. I started the race very sore as I had ridden most of Canberra's cycleways the day before! This is a worthwhile experience for any woman interested in trying racing for the first time and it was worth going interstate for http://www.canberracyclingclub.org.au/ccc/tourdefemme/index.asp.
